Boston real estate CEO visits the International Leadership Forum
This week Sotheby’s International Realty hosted the International Leadership forum in Atlanta, Georgia. Boston’s own Larry Rideout was asked to participate in a panel discussion of six owners of international luxury real estate offices. Rideout noted, “This luxury brand works for homes of every price point.”

Boston real estate market: Sales in luxury market grow
Massachusetts’s luxury home market, which saw a slow down during the recent economic challenges, has been coming back in dramatic fashion. From January 1 to June 1, 625 homes valued at $1,000,000 or more were sold, with May coming out on top with 173 sales. The first week in June has seen a tremendous amount of activity!
The most expensive sale was of 51 Commonwealth Avenue, which broke the $10 million mark and was listed by Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty. The firm also recently reduced 40 Beacon Street, a historic home on Beacon Hill, to $19.9 million. That 21,000sf home offers stunning views of the Common and luxurious finishes, as well as a spacious patio and 9 parking spaces.

Luxury real estate companies in Boston see first quarter success
Boston’s luxury real estate sales have improved dramatically, year-over-year in the first quarter of 2010. The number of million dollar plus home sales in Boston have more than doubled – from 43 in 2009 to 90 in 2010 (source: MPSpin).

Boston real estate sales team meets with regional network

Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty’s Boston real estate sales team joined colleagues from the northeast region at a conference held in Winchester, Massachusetts. Agents from Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island, as well as dozens of Massachusetts real estate sales agents, were in attendance. 2009 May see rate relief for Boston’s jumbo mortgages

A recent article on Bloomberg.com indicates that we may see rate drops for jumbo mortgages in 2009. This is due to Ben Bernanke’s plan for the Fed to buy $500 million in securities issued by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It would affect Boston, New York and San Francisco; areas that see many homes in the higher price ranges.
